The One With The New Lifestyle Cafe

Calling all my people from Makati! Add another one to your list of "Artisanal Cafes in Makati to Visit" because here comes another one. Newly opened lifestyle cafe located in GF of Jacinta Building, Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati - just beside the MMDA building. Your are going to love what is on their menu, with variety of dishes to choose from, from pastas, pastries, and Filipino food - all at a very affordable prices.

The moment you walk in, you'll see how stunningly beautiful the cafe's aesthetics. I don't think it gets crowded there after office hours too, so you can chill out and have a great tasty meal.

I went there with my mom, she ordered an Apple and Walnut Salad (230PHP) and I ordered my default pasta order, Chicken Pesto Fettucine (190PHP). They were both delectable and the serving is just right - I was able to finish my pasta but I was bloated then.

Apart from the restaurant business, you can also see that there are functional wooden pieces that are for sale as well. Did I mention that this is a family business? Yep. I guess this is owned by a family of creatives! Even the paintings on the wall are up for grabs.

Since I'm just around the corner, I will definitely come back! If it doesn't get crowded, then I think I found my hangout place! :)

Day Trip: Hundred Island Pangasinan

Although making your own itinerary is fun, it can be really exhausting as well. Especially when you're with a big group and going to a complicated destination(s). I know that after my first tour experience in Puerto Princesa, I never wanted to join on a tour again, that's also when I decided backpacking is more fun and practical for me. But for a change, I decided to have a trip and join a tour, because I just want to chill and take it easy.

For the sake of pinning the map, we went to Pangasinan. And when you hear of Pangasinan, the first thing that comes to mind is the Hundred Islands. I learned about the Hundred Islands in Alaminos since I was in grade school, but I had no idea what's in The Hundred Islands exactly. Since we were on a tour, I didn't do my research about it as well hence I had no idea what to expect. All I had coming was hundred of islands for our island hopping, lol.

hundred islands day tour itinerary

The itinerary was made by our organizer, Ms. Dian. Tour costed us 1050PHP per head. Van transfers, boat ride, and environmental fees are included. Hundred Islands has activities like, snorkeling, cliff diving, helmet diving, and zip line. Helmet diving was 390PHP for 20 minutes. Zip line was I think 200PHP that goes from island to island. We chose not to do activities that is not included in the tour so we don't have to pay extra. Cliff diving was free, so we all jumped twice as it was so fun! It was my very first cliff diving experience and it. was. awesome. I want to go higher, so if you can recommend a good cliff diving spot, drop it down on the comments below! We only stopped on 4 major islands - I know there are hundreds but most of them are not accessible yet.

The islands are really developed, some has been able to build houses on them as their own rest house maybe. Tourism has really helped improve the islands. It wasn't that much crowded, I assume the crowd was in Bolinao that day we went because it's all over Facebook. I figured right.

I enjoyed the cliff diving so much and the floating bridge and that's all. The view was not at all extraordinary, I guess my Caramoan trip has raised the bars of island hopping. Will I go back? I think this one time is enough. I wasn't in awe of the place, it's just that oceans makes me so happy (mermaid problems) and my friends made it worth while! :)

Discover Weekly: Travel Junkie's Must See Movies

Get yourselves ready for a movie marathon and grab yourselves a popcorn! Here's a list of my personal favorite movies that inspires me to keep on traveling. It's a movie every travel junkie must watch!

The Beach
Young Leo, Richard, as a backpacker ventures to Thailand to look for adventure. He meets this crazy dude named Daffy, who then talks about a secret island in Thailand that has a pristine lagoon and is literally a paradise. Before Daffy commits suicide, he leaves Richard a map to the hidden paradise and then asks a french couple to go with him on an adventure. When they got there, they didn't want to leave. It's definitely a movie for travelers who seeks adventures and who wants to get out of the city. I didn't just like to movie because of Leo, I promise!

After her mother dies of cancer, it totally messed up her life. After she got a divorce, she decided to hike 1,100 mile of 2,650 mile of the Pacific Crest Trail alone in a journey of self-discovery and healing. The hike took up 94 days to finish. This is definitely a movie where you can learn a thing or two about survival in a hike.

The Bucket List
This is a story of two men who have cancer, not a very good start of a paragraph but yep. Carter (Morgan Freeman), who is confined in a hospital after being diagnosed with the big "C" word, have met Cole (Jack Nicholson), another cancer patient in a room they shared in the hospital. Turns out, Cole is the owner of the hospital. They both got along together and one day, Cole saw that Carter was writing something - it was a bucket list. It's a list of things you'd like to do before you die. And Cole, being rich and all made it possible for them to do their bucket list.

Chasing Liberty
This is a romantic-comedy  movie. I'm not sure it's a legit travel movie but this movie takes us to the the best parts of Europe like, Prague, Berlin, and Venice. Anna Foster (Mandy Moore) is the president's daughter who demands freedom from her father who has her on watch by security 24/7. When she was in Prague, she saw a number of security officers that was watching her after her dad made a promise that there will only be two body guards for her when she goes to Europe. Then she met Ben (Matthew Goode) and rode on his motorcylce to make an escape, hence the beginning of her adventure. Note: This is where I got my crazy idea to put "Bungee Jump" on my bucket list.

Leap Year
I am not just putting this on the list because of Matthew Goode, of course. His movies are just great, okay? Also a romance, this movie is about a girl, Anna (Amy Adams) who got tired of waiting for her boyfriend to propose to her. When her boyfriend was traveling to Dublin, Ireland for a work matter, she learned that there is an old Celtic tradition that on February 29, a leap day, a lady is allowed to propose to her boyfriend. She took a plane to Dublin, but the storm diverts the plane to Wales instead. e needed to be in Dublin exactly on the 29th of February and so she'll do whatever it takes. This movie shows how beautiful the Irish country-side is! And I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Ireland because I have relatives who live there. :)

Under  The Tuscan Sun
For my people who would love to visit Italy, home of pizza and pasta, someday, this is the movie for you. It's a story about a girl who just got out of a divorce and decided to leave her life back in San Francisco to move to Tuscany, Italy. The idea of moving to a foreign country where there is no one you know, or no one familiar has always lingered in my mind. To have a fresh start has always seemed to be a great idea.

  The Motorcycle Diaries

"How is it possible that I feel nostalgia for a world I never knew?"
This is one of the most inspiring movies in the film industry. Honestly, I know Che Guevara is an icon but I didn't know why and how until I saw this movie. Che together with his friend, rode a motorbike on their journey from Brazil to Peru. While traveling through South America, they then witnessed the poverty throughout South America. They met poor people along the way, some of which we're oppressed by the rich people. This movie will take you Venezuela, Chile, and they even hiked Machu Pichu (my dream mountain) in Peru.

For everyone who have seen Eurotrip, ya'll know that it's a story of a boy who flew to Europe to meet his pen pal in Germany after having a brutal break up with his girlfriend who was constantly cheating on him behind his back, Scotty didn't know! When he learned that his pen pal was actually a hot girl, he rushes to Europe to meet her and tell her that he loves her. This movie is truly an adventure, it's all about getting lost with your dumb friends on a foreign country, EPIC!

Before Sunrise

"If there's any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone. Sharing something."

Before sunrise- is a movie about a girl and a boy who met in a train. When the boy was about to get off the train, he asked if the girl could come with him to explore Venice before he comes back home to America in the morning. The girl agrees of course. And they roamed around the city of Venice until before sunrise when they have to go their separate ways. I always liked the idea of opening up to the perfect stranger, that way he can't judge you and you'll know that you'll never see them again. They really talked about serious things, it was incredible.

Eat Pray Love
"I'm in love. I'm in a relationship with my pizza."
Liz was successful in life, she had the career she wanted, a house, and a husband. After realizing that she was unhappy with her marriage, she takes on a journey of self-discovery in Italy, India and Bali. This movie shows us that the best food in the world is in Italy (sorry, i love italian food). Tries to heal herself by meditating in India. And finding love in Bali.

Into The Wild

"Happiness is only real when shared."

This is my favorite travel movie yet! Based from a true story, Christopher McCandless gets rid of his possessions and donates his entire savings to charity after graduating university as he decided to escape his old life, his parents. He names himself as an Alexander Supertramp - something hikers do. He goes on to his great Alaskan adventure, through hitchhiking and living in the wild. It was a really deep movie- while traveling, he met people that forever shaped his life. Although it did not have the most beautiful ending, in the end it's the life that he experienced into the wild that made him really happy.
